There is something incredibly magical about the first few weeks at home with a new baby. The world slows down, the days blur together in a haze of sweet snuggles, and your house becomes the entire universe. I had the absolute joy of stepping into their stunning, sunlit home to document their beautiful family welcoming their newest addition: an adorable two-week-old baby boy.
With sun-drenched windows, gorgeous green houseplants, and a proud big brother so kind and loving, this in-home lifestyle session was an absolute dream to capture. Mom borrowed a dress from my studio wardrobe and it fit her perfectly. Yes! I can even bring wardrobe items for your session.
At just two weeks old, baby boy was a total angel. He was wide awake for most of his session, but fell asleep right at the end. Bringing a newborn home when you already have a toddler is a beautiful whirlwind. We made sure the session was fun and relaxed, prompting him to lay with the new baby and sneak gentle kisses onto his baby brother’s head, and of course squeeze in between Mom and Dad for some energetic family cuddles.
Why In-Home Sessions Are Magic for Families
Staying home can be the best choice, especially with a toddler:
- Zero Stress: No need to pack a massive diaper bag, load everyone into the car, or worry about timing toddler nap schedules perfectly or hoping they pose for studio pictures in a new and unfamiliar place.
- Comfort is King: Toddlers are in their own environment. If they need a break to play or eat a snack, they can easily do so.
- Meaningful Backdrops: Years from now, these boys won’t just look at how small they were—they will see the exact living room where they wrestled, the plants Mom cared for, and the nursery room decor that has probably changed and become a lot less cute as babies grow into kids and teenagers.
