Baby A’s mama contacted the studio just a few days prior to giving birth. Although I always recommend booking in your second trimester, I’m so glad I was able to squeeze them in. This year has been a mix of mama’s who are big planners and schedule their sessions way in advance and also many last minute families who are worried about COVID resurges and lockdowns. I’m normally a big planner and love to have details organized in advance, but I’m learning to go with the flow. Well, I’m trying to learn at least. 😉
I’ve got many safety protocols at the studio AND I’m happy to report that I’ve been vaccinated for an extra bit of safety. So the only thing families have to worry about is getting here. Then they can sit back and watch the magic unfold.
Baby A was in and out of naps during his entire studio newborn session. He LOVED his soother and we spent a good amount of time waiting for him to settle enough to drop it or let me pull it out. While I was waiting for him to (hopefully) fall into a deep sleep, I worked on capturing all his precious macro details. The images we took of his fingers, lashes, toes, lips and even how his sweet little hair brushed the top of his ear are my absolute favourite.
As always, we used all neutral fabrics because they are so timeless and will still look beautiful and current, years from now. For me, your baby is the most important thing and I like to keep the focus on them rather than rely on creative and busy set-ups. My posing and wrapping is baby-led as I watch for their cues to ensure that they are happy and comfortable the whole time. Baby A gave me some phenomenal frowns during his time at my studio. I’m glad I was able to capture them in camera.Hope + Salt Photography specializes in natural newborn and baby photography in the Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton and Waterdown areas.
