As a Waterdown, Ontario newborn photographer, I absolutely love when I get to photograph siblings with their new baby, especially when I did their newborn photos a few years ago! Including siblings is such a treasured memory you can have forever and display on the walls of your home. Having big brother or sister in photos always adds an element of uncertainty to the session. Will they be excited to be in photos? Are they overwhelmed and want nothing to do with the newest member of their family? I never know how the session will go. 🙂 Thankfully I have lots of different ways to involve big siblings – there’s not one specific thing they have to do. We all know toddlers have minds of their own. Having your older child (or children) involved in the photos is a great way to make them feel special and an important part of the celebration.
This big brother took a bit of time to warm up to photos with his new sister so I started with having him close but not touching the baby and slowly eased into the “laying down” image, which is usually the goal and a favourite among my families. Baby girl E was so cute with her round face and bright eyes. I was happy to capture both sleeping images and some lovely awake images of her.newborn and baby photography in the Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton and Waterdown areas.
