One of my favourite things to capture during my studio newborn sessions are baby’s unique features. Maybe they have precious flaky skin on their feet or shoulders, do they have long sweet fingernails that have not yet been cut?… incredibly long lashes or does their hair line have an interesting swirl? These are the images that make my heart soar and I always take a moment to really look for these features and be sure to photograph so Mom and Dad can remember for all of time.
It’s sometimes hard for parents to remember those first few weeks with their fresh new baby because those days are quite a blur. You’re adjusting to less sleep, learning how and when to feed baby and becoming a master at the endless diaper changes. My hope is that the images in your gallery will allow you to jump back into this time where you were still discovering about this new little being that you love so, so much. Baby’s features will change very quickly, in a matter of weeks they are no longer squishy and newborn-like where even out of the womb they prefer their arms and legs to stay cramped closely to their bodies. Those sleepy smiles become real, awake smiles, followed by giggles. That flaky skin goes away without you even really noticing… They won’t clench their fists quite as much and their little “froggy legs” grow and straighten out.
Enjoy these days and remember them through images.
