Relaxed, easy and meaningful. That’s the feeling that this session invokes for me. Capturing genuine, everyday moments of family life has got to be one of the highlights of my job. I just know that the images I capture, the little glimpse into this family’s reality at this given moment, are going to be cherished forever.
I first met this family at their outdoor maternity session and instead of doing newborn photos, they wanted to wait until baby was older, more expressive and at sitting age. It was perfect. I love the sitter age, which is when baby is between 6-8 months old because they are generally easy going, happy, expressive and you can really see their developing personality. You don’t have to have the biggest house. It doesn’t have to be professionally decorated or even have every square inch cleaned. For this session, we used just two spots in their home. A corner of their living room in front of a big picture window, and the parents’ bedroom. That’s it. Below is just a small sampling of what we captured that morning.
The morning of our photos, baby girl was actually a bit fussy. You wouldn’t really know it, looking at the photos. She gave us some smiles, had lots of cuddles with mom, dad and big sister, and we even did a bit of story time which both the girls loved. Booking an in-home lifestyle session is the best gift you can give yourself and your children. These walls witness such special moments – snuggling babies, family meals, playtime and love. If it’s your first home – amazing, let’s capture it so you can always look back and remember; if it’s your forever home, that’s fantastic too. The decor will change, the furnishings will eventually be replaced, the toys will not scatter the floors for too many years. This is the perfect backdrop for your lifestyle.
