One of my favourite things in December is turning baby sessions into absolute magic. This sweet family invited me to their lovely home in Etobicoke for a family Christmas session with their two daughters. In-home Christmas sessions are a great was to capture images that reflect a bit of day-in-the-life of Christmas day, albeit a bit more prettier version. 😉 I work together with families beforehand to determine which location is the best spot for their tree, which items do we want to incorporate, which things we could move out of the way for a clean and simple backdrop, and which activities they would like to document. These can be reading a Christmas book, decorating cookies, opening presents, snuggling (of course!) and capturing items like a favourite ornament or the kids’ stockings.
When families have a little baby, it’s even more special because I can swaddle them, put on a holiday bow or Santa hat and capture the best Christmas photos in front of their glistening tree. This family trusted my vision, did a fantastic job prepping their tree, their home and their outfits and we had the most lovely morning together. We captured a massive amount of Christmas images, and then we changed outfits and used other areas of their home to photograph some non-Christmas older newborn and family images that they could display year-round. It truly was the best of both worlds and their gallery was the largest I have EVER delivered.
As this season wraps up, I’m already looking forward to next year’s in-home family Christmas sessions.
